San Gennaro Holiday in Naples

Every year on September 19 the miracle of the liquefaction of the blood of San Gennaro repeats and in Naples this is a big celebration.

San Gennaro is the beloved patron saint of the city of Naples. The devotee attribute to him the famous miracle of the liquefaction of blood which happen regularly three times a year: the first Saturday of May, September 19th (anniversary of the martyrdom of the Saint ) and December 16th.

Truth is, the Church does not speak of a miracle but attributes to the event the definition of "prodigious fact" whose popular veneration is allowed but not recognized.

In 2018 I tried to describe the deep devotion and magic that surround the prodigy of the liquefaction of blood in the program "Dfiesta en La 2" on the Spanish network RTVE in an episode dedicated to the holiday of San Gennaro.

Together with the presenter Sara, we walked through the streets of the historic center, focusing on the most interesting and suggestive popular traditions of my city.

A tour of Naples is never a standard route, but a unique journey into the living belly of the city to discover its incredible millennial history. To find out more or to organize your custom tour of the city contact me here.
