The focus of this tour is the Villa of the Mysteries, famous for the pictorial cycle that describes a Bacchic ritual, which still arouses controversial interpretation today. The quality of the frescoes, the extraordinary conservation and the vivid Pompeian red background have made this ancient residence famous. Founded in the 1st century BC. C. and renovated a few years before the eruption of 79 AD, Villa of the Mysteries allows us to access a panoramic residence, which belonged to the Istacidii, one of the most influential families of the Augustan era and then transformed into a rustic villa. We will arrive there after visiting the center of ancient Pompeii, with its public, private and sacred buildings.
